WGU Payment Plan

How It Works
- Enroll in a Plan
Log in to your student portal, navigate to the Student Support tab, and select the “Make or View Payments” link in the Financial Services section to enroll in a payment plan. - No Interest
While there is a $25 enrollment fee, you won’t incur any interest on your payments. - Choose 4 or 6 Payments
Decide whether you prefer to pay in 4 or 6 installments over your 6-month term, based on your financial needs. - Flexible Payment Options
Work with our financial aid team to schedule your first payment and set due dates for subsequent payments. - Even Payment Breakdown
Your tuition is divided equally over 4 or 6 payments, giving you a clear and consistent payment amount each time.

Note: Students with an active bankruptcy or a history of default on a payment plan are not eligible for the WGU payment plan.

Terms & Conditions:
This WGU Payment Plan (“Plan”) outlines the terms and conditions for installment payments of WGU tuition between you (“Plan Owner”) and WGU Academy and its affiliated entities (collectively, “WGU”). By enrolling in this Plan, you acknowledge and agree to be bound by these terms until the full tuition amount is paid.
Authorization
- You authorize WGU to process payments from your chosen method and confirm it belongs to you or someone you have permission to pay for.
- This authorization ends when your balance is paid in full.
Payment Terms
- We divide your total balance into equal monthly payments based on your program length.
- Even if you finish early, you’ll still be billed monthly until your balance is paid in full.
Refunds
- Withdraw within 3 days of enrollment (grace period) and complete orientation to get a full refund.
- Withdrawing after the grace period incurs full charges regardless of progress.
- Submit a withdrawal request by emailing [email address removed] or calling 888-320-0540.
Prepayment and Extensions
- Prepay your balance in full at any time without penalty.
- Extending your program access beyond the initial term incurs additional monthly fees. We’ll disclose these fees before processing your extension.
Defaults and Non-Payments
- Missing payments won’t result in withdrawal but will be considered a default.
- Unpaid balances will restrict access to your program until resolved.
- A failed payment will terminate your payment plan if not settled within 14 days. Your full balance will then be due immediately.
- We may involve a collection agency and take legal action to recover any outstanding fees. You authorize us to share your account information with them and agree to cover all collection costs, including legal fees.
- You’ll also be ineligible for future payment plans.
Updating Your Plan Information
- Contact WGU to make changes to your plan information.
- If you’re paying for someone else (plan owner), you must get their authorization before making changes.
- The recipient is responsible for obtaining written authorization (email is sufficient) from the plan owner and providing it to WGU.
- You won’t receive advance notice of adjustments due to authorized changes, including balance reductions.
Reporting Errors
- Report any suspected errors made by WGU within 60 days of their occurrence.
- You can report errors by emailing [email address removed] or calling 888-320-0540.
- This requires you to regularly review your payment statements and respond promptly to our communications.
Governing Law and Venue
- This plan is governed by the laws of Utah and is not considered a lender-borrower agreement.
- Any legal disputes will be settled in courts located in Salt Lake County, Utah.
Privacy and Security
- Data collected by our payment processor is subject to WGU’s privacy policy.
- This data won’t be used by the processor for any purpose not approved by WGU unless required by law.
- Only authorized personnel can access this data, and it will only be used to service you or WGU.
Affordable Education: Breaking Down Cost Barriers
For many, the cost of higher education presents a significant obstacle. At WGU, we believe a quality education shouldn’t be financially out of reach. Earn a respected degree for about half the national average cost of a bachelor’s degree.
Should I Consider Financial Aid?
A college degree is a valuable investment that can significantly increase your earning potential over a lifetime. Individuals with bachelor’s degrees typically earn nearly a million dollars more in their careers compared to those without. Master’s degrees often offer similar financial advantages.
Federal financial aid can make a significant difference in making your education possible. We encourage you to explore your options and discuss your individual circumstances with an Enrollment Counselor to learn more.
